Engineering Meeting Nov 05, 2024

Time: 8am PT/11am ET/5pm CET

Zoom link: https://uzh.zoom.us/j/5166204490?pwd=VUt1VmFLVmJsYTExeXJka0JwbUlIQT09

Attendance:

Agenda:

  • Update sims Alex
  • Discussion of technical aspects (dimensions, thermal considerations) for Oxford technical report
    • HEMPS will double the head load, interface with Julien for heat load constraints
    • Emma working on two things:
      • Gordon shared the vibration decoupler design with Emma
      • Updating how the load support is handled
    • AK, BP: Ask load distribution design of Oxford
    • Emma:
      • Preliminary cold joint design, needs to be signed off by Julien
      • Still canister closed, the rest can be open
      • Bottom canister discussion
    • Active veto discussion, shift the weight of the veto off the scale to the mixing chamber
      • need to ask manufacturers
  • Andrey: slides
    • Need sheet thickness of PE sheets, 10cm would be good
    • Need some sheets
    • Need to ask French colleagues what the maximum weight
last time

Agenda:

  • Alex - Ancient Lead Sims
    • It seems only a few hundred kg of ancient Pb, not all Edelweis is low in Pb210
    • Changing inner Pb layer has rather small effect compared to clean Cu
    • Estimate impact of cryogenic cooper as function of wall thickness
    • Check dimensions from drawings and double check both dimension
    • Andrey will send step file of complete assembly
  • Emma - Thermal Modeling Update
    • Thermal contraction modelling:
      • Neck will not displace more than 0.2mm
      • Upper and payload cannister both less than 1mm
      • Vertical displacement up to 4mm
      • Note from comment: all flanges deflection less than 1mm
      • Mixing chamber heatloads can be well controlled
      • HEMTs on the CP, their heat loads are high, can lead to large heat loads exceeding 50mk
        • We need to check with Julie
  • Cryo CDR
  • AOB
